			<itunes:subtitle>LXG Episode 125: Peppered Jerky</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Yes, another episode already as we try to get back on schedule. We had A LOT to say this episode and we’re still getting settled into our new format, so here’s a monster of an episode. This one time, I hope you have a long commute and maybe we can help make it a little more interesting.

In comics, we’ve got some single issue talk and then a discussion on comic book character “reincarnations.”

Then, in games, we talk about the (literally) big announcements from Privateer Press on day one of TempleCon and move into a talk about when games hit “overkill” for our personal tastes. Also, we coin the term “maxi-tures.”

00:02:17 – COMICS! News, with email, RPG musings, and Super Bowl.
00:11:20 – The Twelve #9
00:16:32 – Before Watchmen
00:22:31 – Venom #13
00:36:18 – Invincible #88
00:40:34 – Character reboots/rewrites/rebirths/reincarnations
01:06:39 – GAMES! Big news. Colossal news. Overkill? Power creep?

Intro and outro music is “Nobody but Me” from The Dickies.

Hope you enjoy the new format, let us know what you think and send any questions/comments to: LXG@imakereality.com

Don’t forget, we’d love to get some more iTunes reviews so more people can find the show!

00:42:43 – GAMES! News of new editions. 40K 6th edition rumor updates, and our completed speculation on the whispers of the new D&amp;D 5th edition.
01:03:50 – Theory gaming discussion. Where does what works on paper not sync with what works on the table?

Intro and outro music is “Do Right” from Jimmie’s Chicken Shack.

We’ve got a Hordes DOMINATION event to discuss as well as some Heroclix, so enjoy.

Next week, we move to a “half and half” format of both comics and games. Have any good topics about either of those you’d like to bring up and kick off a conversation? Let us know!

Intro and outro is “Mr. Jinx” by Quarashi.

This is my motivation. It’s what all of you should be yelling at me.

We’re back to talk comics! Been awhile, but we’re going on and on about some really good reads lately.

SHOW NOTE: In a couple of weeks we’ll be introducing a new format, but if you have any suggestions for changes you think we should add to the show, please let us know by email, Facebook, twitter, etc.

Intro and outro is “Action Figure Party” by Action Figure Party. The Department of Redundancy Department.

<itunes:summary>This episode was supposed to go up days ago, too. Computer issues...yada yada yada. Check your feed accordingly, please!

As the year comes to a close, we’re doing a few episodes where we just open the mic with a loose topic and see where the conversation leads us.

Does it work? You tell us! With the new year we’ll be adding a few tweaks to the show, so we always welcome input!

This time out we talk about anything that comes to mind. Seriously. Anything. From stupid Christmas songs to Mayan doomsday.

Basically, each year we all have to work at the store on Christmas Eve, so we just have our Christmas party at the same time. Some food, some games, etc. All we did here was turn on the mics for part of the conversation. Welcome behind the curtain. It’s all just a puppet show now!

Intro and outro is “Christmas - Sarajevo” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra (my favorite Christmas song of all).

Enjoy!

<itunes:summary>Happy Thanksgiving! Matt and Darren sit down to record a holiday edition of the show talking about a few trade collections that we’ve been enjoying.

We focus in on three titles this time out and we highly recommend all of them. First up is Skull-Kickers from Image, which has two volumes of sword and sorcery insanity out. Next is FreakAngels from Avatar Press, with all six volumes being out to complete this post-apocalyptic-steam-punk-psychic-parable-for-early-twenties-post-slackers storyline. Finally, we talk Locke &amp; Key from IDW, one of the creepiest and most well-written stories with incredibly rich detail that literally opens doors to your fantasies and nightmares.

Intro and outro is “I Hear the Bells” by by Mike Doughty.

<itunes:summary>After a false start that you (thankfully) will miss out on, Danny, Jeff, and Matt get down to talking about “Domination.” It’s the new HORDES book from Privateer Press.

In this one we cover half of the new material. As there’s 5 factions (I know, Minions aren’t a faction, but they have their own section and get coins now with tourney events, so deal with it) we talk about two and a half of them: the Trollbloods, the Skorne, and the Farrow.

It looks like everyone’s after an Anthanc....except the Trolls, who just want you off their lawn.

Intro and outro is “Iko Iko” by by some half-assed karaoke group.

<itunes:summary>It’s a comic book episode this week and after so many weeks with a focus on DC, we actually end up with an all-Marvel show this time out. (Soon, an all-Indie show.)

We start off with some news from Marvel involving their new digital initiative and speculate on what it could lead to, then move on to some issues that we’ve really enjoyed over the past couple of weeks.

Next week, a game-based show. Maybe 40K, maybe Warmachine/Hordes. Maybe both! New releases all around and we’re getting our hands dirty.

Intro and outro is “Neverending Story” by The Birthday Massacre.

<itunes:summary>Here you have it! At long last, a games-based episode! We’re actually taking a look at a couple of board games this time around, broken up with a bit of 40K talk.

Speaking of 40K, we start with a letter from Imagine and his doings at the Feast of Blades. Check out www.feastofblades.com to get the whole story.

First up, we FINALLY take a look at Settlers of Cattan, one of those evergreen board game titles that’s certainly a best seller in our store.

Next, we check in with Kyle on how he’s doing getting back into 40K and practicing for an upcoming tourney in December.

Finally, we talk about Cargo Noir, another board game with a lot of character and a cool design.

So, does either game have the replay value? Are their racist overtones? FIND OUT BY LISTENING! (…please…)

Enjoy!

<itunes:summary>Wow, this has been one hell of a week off-mic. And I do mean off-mic! We’re still on wobbly legs when it comes to the new recording set-up, but we got it not a moment too soon! Find out by listening to what’s going on. No there wasn’t a show last week, but that’s because I’d rather not put out a show than put out a steaming turd pile. Maybe I was wrong on that, but we move on.

We celebrate birthdays and other life-changing events before jumping into comics this time around.

Next week, a game-based show, I swear to you! Yes, we know it’s been far too long since we’ve had one, so it WILL happen. IT. WILL.

Intro and outro is “Save it for Later” by English Beat.

Yup, we’re moving on up and hoping that we’ll be able to eliminate all of these skipped weeks by making recording a lot easier. Heaven help us, the DC relaunch is behind us and we can move on to other books! ...right after we do our wrap ups of the final wave.

We’re still working on that. This is all gearing up to us jumping into a Malifaux league kicking off next week, so you’ll be hearing some more soon.

			<itunes:summary>AAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW YEAH!!!
Here we go, Episode 100 is finally here! After losing all our audio files, having the computer we record on fail, and a litany of other shit go wrong, we get back on the horse one more time than we got thrown off to get this to you. We have battle wounds.
Chicks dig scars, right?
So we start off by opening up a gift from our friend Roy (Buma from Kawaii Kon) and can’t believe the level of awesome it possesses.
Next, our audio fails before we can talk about movies, which we launch into after the “break,” as well as the big news as of late in both comics and games.
Also, since this is Episode 100, I’ll be contacting several of you about winning our “Shameless Marketing Prize!” So look for us in your spam folder, I guess.

Intro and outro is “Attracted to Us” by Lonely Island.

Enjoy……

<itunes:summary>…gonna bake you in Hell tonight!

This episode we do an LXG intro to the skirmish game Malifaux. With two rulebooks out and an almost infinite combination of tactics, we set up this show to introduce people to a bit of the rules and fluff. Make no mistake, we’re not experts, but we’re working on it!

Since Matthew is the only Malifaux player of the Geeks, we have Matt and Jeff in the studio to help with the conversation and Darren’s here to keep it all in line with a WTF perspective.

[00:00:32] Shepherd’s Pie – fact or fiction? We talk music.

[00:11:55] emails! Let us show you them.

Next week: COMIC BOOKS (a hodgepodge from the past month up through January 11th.) Shoot us an email or comment on our facebook page to be part of the discussion!

<itunes:summary>For the first time ever, we talk RPGs on the show! Well, one RPG specifically, as we’ve decided to dip our toes into the waters of D&amp;D 4e.

We’re joined by part of our gaming group on this episode. Jeff (who’s been on before), his wife Jessica (newbie), and Matt (who, tied with Jeff, might be our most frequent guest) are all here, making for a crowded house and a lot of mic sharing. If the sounds of passing them around get irritating, sorry.

We go into our game specifically, but also the nature of gaming groups as a whole.

Can you guess who plays the Tiefling Warlock, the Dragonborn Bard, the Gensai Swordmage, the Eladrin Cleric, and the Dwarven Fighter?

[00:00:58] Intros with guests.
[00:02:43] We beg. Shamelessly.
[00:03:45] ANOTHER parking rant.

[00:28:49] D&amp;D 4e.
[01:15:52] DBTG: my car got towed.
[01:27:45] Next Week and Outros.

We’ll be taking next week off for Games Day at the store. We’ll be back with a story or two.

Intro and outro is Sex Bob-bom’s “Threshold.”

As always, you can take part in what’s going on by getting in touch with us at the usual places. Also, some iTunes reviews would be greatly appreciated; it helps our little community reach beyond Hawaii!

<itunes:summary>The last week and a half has been plagued with computer viruses and the kind of work that pays, so here’s the first of two (maybe more) shows we’ll be posting this week!

It’s been a year since we started this little venture called the LXG, and to celebrate, we couldn’t think of a damn thing. There have been some great audience suggestions, but logistically, we couldn’t pull of any of them. So we took the cheap route and invited on the legendary “Beez,” a friend and former co-worker at the store who was originally going to be part of the LXG cast.

He lives in New York now, so three cheers for “Free Nights and Weekends” plans and moderate insomnia. We take a walk down memory lane, a walk up memory lane, marry Veronica then Betty, and compare notes on the gaming/geek communities.

Honestly, we recorded this episode for ourselves and to catch up with a good friend, so hopefully you come along for the ride.

Intro is the “Hawaii 5-0” theme, and outro music is “Martini Five-O” from The Blue Hawaiians (on the “Tao of Steve” soundtrack).

As always, you can take part in what’s going on by getting in touch with us at the usual places. Also, some iTunes would be greatly appreciated; it helps our little community reach beyond Hawaii!

			<itunes:subtitle>LXG Episode 043: Man-gina Monologues.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>It’s all Marvel this week as we talk comics on a Valentine’s Day show! Kyle’s out and as he’s the only one in a relationship, we can only share stories about V-Day being crap and Matt’s journey to the Vagina Monologues. Also, since Kyle’s not in, we take this opportunity to completely trash him with sister-humper jokes.

[00:01:12] Oh yeah, it’s Valentine’s Day.
[00:03:47] Intros. We’re a three-legged dog watching “Blade: Trinity.”
[00:07:27] Vagina Monologues.
[00:13:35] “Hit-Monkey.” The transition makes sense, trust me.
[00:22:49] “Strange” mini-series wraps up.
[00:33:47] “Amazing Spider-Man” continues the “Gauntlet” with Mysterio.
[00:48:06] “Seige” #2 rocks socks.
[01:14:18] “Wolverine Weapon X” is about an old man getting LOTS of tail.
[01:19:23] “Ultimate X” might make us not hate a child of Wolverine.
[01:27:05] Other comic-type news.
[01:30:50] Listener emails and SuperBowl commercials.
[01:40:26] Outros.

Intro and outro music is “Obsessed With You” by The Orion Experience.

			<title>LXG Episode 005: Hand Check!</title>

			<itunes:summary>Kawaii Kon.

Just saying the words can invoke the images of purple-haired vixens in exotic slit-to-there dresses…or dumpy fat guys who think it’s funny to dress as pre-teen schoolgirls.

Either way, we’re here to recap our experiences at Honolulu’s only major convention centered on anime/manga and their related media and games.

NOTE: We all totally support Kawaii Kon, but everyone gets to be teased on this show. Especially Kyle.

We also brought in our friend Joel to discuss the Kon and desperately try to segue that into the local forum site he owns/operates (www.hawaiigamers.net) under the guise of helping to grow the community.

Music for this episode is from the Six Mix Girls by TsuShiMaMiRe, the band we saw performing on Saturday night during the Kon.

Here’s the breakdown:

[00:00:00] We beg you to contact us.
[00:00:19] A sample of TsuShiMaMiRe’s Sleepy Dreamy Marshmallow.
[00:00:33] Introductions are made, dreams are shattered.
[00:01:27] Kawaii Kon: “WTF?!” and other first impressions.
[00:06:11] Cosplay: for better or worse.
[00:22:10] We tried to demo a game, but got out dorked by a hot chick.
[00:27:55] Danny’s a web star, so where’s his muthafuckin’ movie check?
[00:29:06] Kawaii Kon is getting bigger every year.
[00:33:07] Trannies as cosplayers. Thoughts?
[00:35:19] Time for the “Hentai Movie Block.” Hand Check!
[00:51:09] TsuShitMaMiRe’s concert: an Itty Bitty Metalfest.
[00:57:10] Sunday, the day of rest and a slow Kon.
[00:58:53] Kyle’s a douche, Stan Sakai is a saint.
[01:05:07] HGNet, our local community forum. www.hawaiigamers.net
[01:15:06] Next Week looks to be Warmachine MKII
[01:16:19] Don’t Be That Guy and Goodbye
[01:19:01] A sample of TsuShiMaMiRe’s Hyper Sweet Power.
[01:19:30] A dramatic reading of the lyrics of TsuShiMaMiRe’s Hyper Sweet Power.

Hope you like it and if you were at Kawaii Kon and horribly offended, we invite you on to hear your side of things. Especially Pikachu.

Until next time, you can reach us at lxg@imakereality.com
